DESCRIPTION:
A PhD scholarship is available for Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens,
to support full-time research on a negotiable topic,
in association with a CRC-ORE-funded project on "Advanced Scheduling Methodologies for Ore Mining Industry"
under CRC-ORE for Optimising Resource Extraction Resource Valuation Program. International candidates are welcome
to apply, but will be liable for tuition fees, unless a waiver can be obtained (on a competitive basis).
ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates with a first class or upper second class honours degree, or equivalent, in operations research, mathematics, statistics, mining engineering or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. This research project will provide excellent research training to the PhD student to investigate the scheduling theory, constraint programming, constructive algorithms and meta-heuristic optimisation algorithms for mine planning and scheduling problems.
AMOUNT AWARDED:
Scholarships comprise a stipend of up to $25,000 per annum, tax-free, for up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress.
